Casa Manila

Casa Manila is so close to my workplace yet I haven't gone to try it yet.

One of my girlfriends was finally free to meet up so we decided to go here for dinner one night.

First up was the pancit bihon. It is stir fried rice noodles with chicken, shrimp and veggies. Absolutely delicious. I think it was comparable to Max's Restaurant. After this dish, the remaining dishes were just mediocre.

SongCook's

Here's a quick post.

My mother-in-law recommended SongCook's for some authentic Korean cuisine.

My boyfriend loved the food so much we returned again 2 days later.

Here was the food from our first trip.

Complimentary kimchi. Too vinegary for my taste buds.

Ten-Ichi

Some people might think I'm crazy for saying this but... I don't like Ten-Ichi. There, I said it.

A friend raved about how she loved the sushi buffet, Ten-Ichi. I decided to take my inlaws there for dinner on a Saturday night. Thank god my father-in-law couldn't make it otherwise he would've been disgusted with my restaurant choice.

The earliest reservation I was able to make was at 8:15pm. When I arrived, the place was super packed. Luckily, I didn't have to wait long to get to our table even though my friend kept warning me that even with reservations I might have to wait at least 30 minutes for our table.

The tables were pretty close to one another. It was hard enough trying to squeeze through to get to our seats. They really maximized the space here.

Here was the only dish I actually ordered twice, aside from the sashimi, the beef skewers. It was very tasty and well seasoned. After this dish, everything else went downhill from here.

Evergreen Brick Works

To market, to market.

This was my first time to Evergreen Brick Works.

I have to say the park behind the building was beautiful. I really enjoyed the green scenery. Perfect spot to walk around or just read a book.

Ultimate Laffananza Challenge

Ok the title is deceiving since I did not take this challenge at all. I love to eat but c'mon there's no way my stomach can handle that.

My boyfriend took me to Best Grill for dinner one night. Upon entering, this is what caught my eye. A gallery of all the contenders who took the Ultimate Laffananza Challenge. Actually it was the wall of shame, where food conquered man.

Matsu

A new restaurant opened up by my workplace so me and a colleague decided to give it a try.

Matsu is suppose to be a fusion of Japanese and Thai cuisine. Being the greedy one that I am we went for the lunch buffet. Maybe we should have gone with the regular menu instead because the buffet was a disappointment.

Here was the unagi and avocado pizza. It was a huge pile of mess. I couldn't taste the eel but I definitely tasted the avocado but that's about it.

Basil Thai Kitchen

Burmese, Thai & Malayasian.

I've never had that combination before so I was excited when a twitter friend asked me if I was interested in a tweetup at Basil Thai Kitchen. My response "Hellya" or something along those lines lol.

Bamiyan Kabob

Twice in one week.

My friend recommended Bamiyan Kabob to me. She said it was cheap and filling. Those are the two words that I love to hear when it comes to food.

Monsieur Felix & Mr. Norton

Chewy and gooey.

That is how you would describe the cookies from Monsieur Felix & Mr. Norton.

Their cookies are baked fresh everyday and there are no preservatives or trans fats. There are 14 cookie flavors available from caramelt to the classic milk chocolate chunk or another old time favorite, the macadamia and white chocolate chunk.

I couldn't resist so I bought one of each flavor plus a few extra cookies.

Capriccio Cafe

I want dessert and I got me some desserts:)

I was craving for some sort of cake so decided to try out Capriccio Cafe. I've only been here once and all I grabbed was a bag of caramel popcorn. I know what was I thinking when there was a whole array of decadent cakes and other goodies on display. Well what can I say I eat whatever I feel for at that moment. Not that the caramel popcorn was really special or anything. I just walked in and saw popcorn so decided I want to eat that instead. Yea I'm weird like that.

Any hoot. Capriccio is a really cute space. When you walk in you can see the variety of sweet confections available. Once you pick out your delight there's a seating area which looks like a lil girls tea party room with white chairs and tables and some splashes of color here and there of merchandise.

I spotted this cup on my way out think I might return and buy it. It's so cute.

My Baked Goods from La Boheme

I had a tweetup at Jedd's but we were suppose to bring baked goodies. Since I don't bake I decided to grab some treats from La Boheme.

Jedd's Frozen Custard

I love custard but frozen custard I never tried before.

I was excited that I finally made the trip to Jedd's Frozen Custard.

The owner was extremely friendly and very informative. He told us what made his custard different from regular ice cream. I don't quite remember what he said since all I could think was "Gimme some custard!" I was hungry. (Then again nothing new there). He let me sample all the flavors. The regular flavors were vanilla and chocolate. As for the flavor of the day, it was banana. Funny thing was the owner hates bananas and he even told us why but regardless, I really liked the banana flavor so I ended up getting a small cup. The texture is much more smoother than regular ice cream. I'm really sorry though but I completely forgot to take pictures of my frozen custard:( I know I'm so terrible how could I possibly forget that.

The Bean Counter

After my snack at Buddha Dog, I strolled over next door to The Bean Counter for some gelato.

There were a lot of yummy flavors available.

I ended up grabbing the special of the day, the melon gelato. It was actually the owner's first time creating the flavor. She did a great job since it really did taste like melon and it was refreshing.

Perfect way to end the day. Also the fruity flavor was a great change from all the cheese I had at TGCCF.

TOTAL BILL $4...EAT HERE NEXT!!!

Buddha Dog

After the Great Canadian Cheese Festival, Vicky was raving about a veggie dog from Buddha Dog. It was dragon's breath mousse with rhubarb compote and asparagus on a homemade hot dog bun. Aren't you intrigue now? Cause I sure was.

All Cheesed Out @ TGCCF

I love cheese but man was I cheesed out.

I got invited to attend the Great Canadian Cheese Festival (TGCCF) in Picton, Ontario. I have never even heard of Picton before. Then again, I never stray too far from the city unless my boyfriend takes me on some fishing trip. Believe me I have no clue where we go since we normally go in the middle of the night.

This was the first event which I'm sure will become an annual festivity. It was a hit.

Located in the heart of Prince Edward County at the Crystal Palace Fairground, it was a great place for cheese lovers as well as wine lovers to unite and well feast on Artisan cheese and drink some local Ontario wine. Who could say no to that?

finger food such a tease...I was still hungry:(

Afternoon tea.

When I hear those words I think of little old grannies sitting around wearing big hats sipping tea.

Well that wasn't the case here at the Library Bar.

I bought a voucher for afternoon tea at the Fairmont Royal York inside the Library Bar.

When I called to make reservations, the earliest seating available was one month later. Wonder if it was because of the deal or was it really that good? Well it wasn't that great to me.

Raa? More Like Blah!

If it wasn't for the voucher and the fact that it was uptown I would never have bothered with this place. I can't believe the guy talked so much sh*t. If I didn't know any better I would have believed every word of it.

Raa recently opened at Yonge and Sheppard.

Despite the bad reviews I still went with hopes that it wouldn't be so bad. Once again should've listened to the people. I didn't leave smiling like this statue. I was fuming.

Tweetup to the Max

Here is a preview of what's to come. If anything in this photo interest you then keep on reading. If you're not going to continue then you don't know what you're missing.

Tako Sushi

One of my coworkers took me to a sushi place for lunch.

Tako is located right next door to Gonoe where I took my mommy for dinner to celebrate mother's day.

We both ended up ordering one of the bento boxes.

This was my colleague's meal. He had the kyoto meal with miso soup, cucumber roll, california roll, veggies, salad and chicken teriyaki.
